My Microbading Experience
I have fair eyebrows that sort of give up halfway across! I’ve been pencilling them in for years. I’ve had them tinted, waxed, threaded and had HD brows but was ready to try something more permanent.
My daughter, who is a trained make up artist, had hers microbladed in Cardiff. She has dark hair and brows and they looked fabulous. Would they work for me?
I made an appointment with the same lady that my daughter had visited. Her Instagram photos looked amazing and although a lot of her clients were in their 20’s and 30’s, I thought this could actually have an even greater impact on older women.
So what exactly *is* microblading?
A technician uses a small handheld tool to add semi-permanent pigment to the skin. It differs from old fashioned eyebrow tattooing because each hairstroke is created individually using a blade.
Ouch! Sounds painful!
It’s a little bit ‘ouchee’ but it’s by no means unbearable and isn’t constant. You are given a cream to apply while they heal. There is a little scabbing – it is a form of tattoo after all, but honestly it’s very manageable.
How long does it take?
When you arrive at your appointment, the technician will talk you through the process and painstakingly measure out your perfect brows. These are ‘drawn’ onto your face so you will get to see what shape they will be before they start. Including this prep time, the whole appointment takes about an hour and a half. After 6 weeks, you go back for a touch up and they start to fade after 12 months.
How much does it cost?
I paid £250 but the price will vary depending on where you live. This price included the consultation and the touch up.
Were you happy with the result?
After an initial “Woah, these could be a bit dark,” I loved them. The initial dark colour fades very quickly and by the 6 weeks, you’re ready for the touch up. The best part is you look pretty good first thing in the morning! It sort of dresses up your face!
I have since been back and had them redone and it’s definitely something I will stick with.
I think you’ve convinced me...
Do it, Dame Helen Mirren got hers done after me, just saying…
