Have you heard of Profhilo® yet?

“Ooo I wish I’d looked after me neck and spotted the perils below deck.”

My sincerest apologies to the marvellous Pam Ayers for paraphrasing her popular poem!

Although not unhappy with my face, I like the occasional subtle ‘tweak’ and have had little Botox between my eyebrows and in my crows feet in the past. I do, however, have some sun damage to my neck which I’m not overly happy with. I had heard of a new treatment called Profhilo® which was receiving a lot of buzz in the non-invasive aesthetics industry and I thought it was time to find out more and if this could help with my neck.

I go to Jo Ferriday in Barry in Wales for Botox and I completely
trust her. She is qualified BA Hons nurse who worked with plastic surgeons and is constantly attending and updating her training.

What is it exactly?

Profhilo® has been specially formulated to contain a unique level of Hyaluronic Acid (a naturally occurring substance found in our bodies that is responsible for maintaining moisture within our skin), which helps to encourage the production of collagen and elastin across the skin. So the idea is that it acts as a hydrator rather than a filler to give you plumper and more luminous skin. Once injected, the substance disperses across the skin and is said to instantly boost hydration consequently smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in improved skin texture.

Jo was confident that it would be ideal for my neck, so I went ahead.

The first appointment didn’t take very long, I would say no more than 10 minutes. It’s a series of injections either side of my neck. It wasn’t noticeable – I looked as though I had been bitten by an insect and the swelling goes down in 24 to 48 hours. Ouchy factor? Not bad but use a numbing cream (Emla) if you’re concerned. I didn’t need it though, the pain very manageable.

So here is what you’ve been waiting for, the before and after pictures! So the pictures below were taken before the treatment and just after the second treatment.

The treatment continues to work for the weeks following the treatment so the pictures below is what my neck looks like today. The only problem is, I’m so pleased, I will be doing it again! It lasts for about six months and I may try it on my face next time, watch this space!

It does look better Avril. You would love that Prai brand that I’m using too. But I’ve heard even better is the Prai night cream xx
